History

In 1973 John Rock began collecting and repairing pallets for local businesses in his mother’s small Honey Brook, PA garage. From those humble pallet beginnings John Rock & Company, Inc., was born and through hard work and devotion to his customer’s needs a small but thriving pallet business took root and began to grow.

John’s reputation spread by word of mouth from one satisfied customer to another and he expanded and relocated as necessary to accommodate his growing customer base. He finally settled in a much larger facility in Downingtown, PA in 1976. For over 20 years he added to his list of satisfied customers and not surprisingly the company continued to expand to be a respected large Mid-Atlantic Pallet Manufacturer. The company’s pallet production process was so well run that in 1996, when a devastating fire destroyed over half of the pallet manufacturing operation; it caused only a few days disruption. The company was back at work in short order and in 1997, John Rock & Company was purchased by Bill MacCauley.
Out of respect to his mentor, Bill retained the name and the new company John Rock, Inc. was formed.

A New Era Begins

Bill MacCauley started out at John Rock & Company, Inc., as a subcontractor in 1993, then joined them
as a full time employee in 1994. Since he purchased the Downingtown location, his vision and dreams guided John Rock Inc., to a period of explosive growth and expansion.
The increased new pallet production brought its own set of challenges, most notably …space. But in spite of the cramped quarters, the company kept up their intensity level and their quality while meeting and usually exceeding their customer’s expectations.  After years of squeezing too much into too little it became apparent that the company had outgrown this facility and they began the search for the next chapter of this emerging pallet powerhouse.

Looking Ahead

After years of extensive planning in late fall of 2003 ground was broken for construction of his ambitious new facility. And in November 2004 dedication ceremonies were held at Grand Opening Celebration. This was not just any run of the mill wooden pallet operation; it was the culmination of Bill’s long fought for dream. He took many of the processes, ideas, and philosophies that he had proved successful at his old plant and pushed them to the very edge of the envelope of high volume production. Some pallet industry leaders have described this facility as the “Disney World” of pallet manufacturing.
“Resting on his laurels” is not in Bill’s vocabulary. Since moving into the largest state of the art wooden pallet production facility anywhere, there has been constant and continued improvement and refining of
their craft. Today John Rock Inc. has raised the bar and redefined the term “High Quality” and is consistently exceeding customer’s expectations for order delivery.
